    Unanswered: vlookup function problem

I have a spreadsheet that i copied and pasted info into from a different spreadsheet. I then write a vlookup function on a different worksheet to get the matching data. The function only works if I double click the data that I am looking up against the pasted dat

    =VLOOKUP(Z9,Newdata!B:K,9,FALSE)

So I would have to double click in Z9 for the function to work. Is this a formating issue or what. Its driving my office crazy!!

Sounds like you have imbedded links to a closed file. When you pasted the data into the new spreadsheet, did you just Paste, or Paste Special Values?

You can also choose Links from the Edit menu to see if there are links. If so, you can open the linked file and your calculation should then work.

I just pasted. I didn't do special values. What would be the best way to avoid this in the future. Paste Special Values with what option?
