    Unanswered: Primary Key/Null VAlue

    Hi All,
Simple question, I have a simple database tracking qualifications. When I add a record I get a message "Index or Primary Key Cannot Contain a Null value" Doesn't access normally assign an index number when a record is created? Is it possible that I inadvertently changed some setting in properties? Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Mike

    Autonumber?

Yes, Access does assign a counter value automatically, but only if you have the field set to Autonumber. Check the field type of your primary key or index field. It may also be possible that one of your fields is set to No Duplicates, which causes problems if the field is nullable.

Thanks, I messed up and made the ID row a text block.
