    Unanswered: sqlldr - loading date

    My data file had date in the format YYMMDDHHMISS
    eg.. 910429082454
    I need to insert this field into DATE field as MM/DD/YY HH24:MIS

    I am doing this
    date_part FILLER POSITION (56:61),
    time_part FILLER POSITION (62:67),
    req_date EXPRESSION "to_date(to_char(:date_part,'99/99/99')||' 'to_char(:time_ part,'99:99:99'),'MM/DD/YY HH24:MIS')",

    But I get the error :
    SQL*Loader-291: Invalid bind variable DATE_PART in SQL string for column REQ_DATE

    Any help ?

    You need to get clear in your head the difference between data types; such as characters and DATES.

    An object of type DATE in the database has NO formatting characters, such as ':' or '/', in it.

    Is the field in the table a DATE or a VARCHAR2?

    Pick one & then use appropriate conversion or formatting function(s).
