    Unanswered: mdf file

    Hello,

I have an mdf file - how can I open and view it?

I don't know much about sql server and would like to be able to export the data.

    Thanks.

You'd have to install SQL Server, as far as I know, the exact version the MDF was created in, and then "Attach" it through Enterprise Manager.
That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

all you need is the latest service pack. when you issue sp_attach_db it will convert it to the same level as the server is on.
