    Question Unanswered: Varchar limitations

I updated a varchar field fom 500 length to 800 and now nothing works. Are there limitations to how big a varchar table entry can be and if so what is the alternative?

    Cheers

There is limitation for table row size - in SQL Serv. 7/2000 it's 8060 bytes. If row size in your table exceed this size you'll get error.
