    Unanswered: Dropping Tablespaces

    Hi there, I am coming across problems in dropping a tablespace of 13gb. This process seems to be taking forever. Is there a quick way of dropping a tablespace?

    The pc spec is 4 CPU 2.26GHz, 256 Ram with 40gb disk space.

    Dropping a tablespace of that size will take time ... Do as suggested ..

    drop tablespace <tablespacename> including contents;

    The problem is ... Oracle has to touch every datablock of the 13gb. With
    only 256mg memory, you may experience some paging .... How fast the disk drives are will also be a determining factor in how long this will run ...

    After the above statement completes, shutdown and startup the database,
    then you may delete the 13gb file from the OS...

    Thanks for the help, found another way by running the following sql: alter database tempfile 'tempfile path' drop including datafiles. I ran these for each tempfile, then dropped the tablespace and finally deleted the 'temp'.DBF from the OS
