    Unanswered: Dts

    Hi,
    I'm using a DTS package to import data from a Access database to sql server.But the problem is the name of the database will be different all the time.Can I give the name of thedatabase dynamically from the front end.Is there any provision in sql server for that

    Perhaps when you create a package that includes a dynamic properties task which sets the filename of the access connection prior its executing. However, you need a way to determine which filename is next. Perhaps a better alternative is to rename the access-database file instead and go on from that point.

    ActiveX Script task

    You could add an ActiveXScript Task to your DTS that uses the InputBox fucntion inVBScript. This would prompt you for a file name when you run the DTS package. You can then store the input in a package global var and use that via a Dynamic Properties task to set the file your data connector is pointing at.
