    Red face Unanswered: Repair Database

I am getting a message that says my database cannot be repaired and that the database password is not valid. How can I repair an unrepairable database. Thanks.

First of all, have you tried importing all of your objects into a new db? That helps me a lot of the times my dbs get hosed.

Can you even get in the db at all? You may want to try decompiling. Let me know if you want instructions for doing this.

    Exclamation Create Backup First!!!!!

    1. Close all occurences of Access
    2. Hit Start menu and Run and type:
    msaccess /decompile "c:\test.mdb "
replace "c:\test.mdb with full path and name to your db
    3. Close Access after it has opened (if it...)
    4. Open the db in Access, go to any module (ALT+F11) select Debug | Compile and save
    5. Close the db
    6. Open the db again (and hopefully all is golden...)

This is undocumented by Microsoft, and can have strange results, like completely ruining your db. I have never experienced this, but beware. Please make a backup before proceeding with this. Post back with your results.
