    Unanswered: ADO from VC++

    Hi There,

    I am going to be writing a VC++ application that will use ADO to store data in an Access .mdb database.

    I've written a test application that connects to the db and retreives some data which is what i want it to do.

    One thing that concerns me is whether or not this application would work on all different versions of windows such as 98,me, NT4...

    Also, would it still work if MS office or Works was not installed.

    The connect string that i have to use to open the DB is as follows:

    "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=mydb.mdb"

    Would this work everywhere regardless of OS or if Office was installed.

    I'd be grateful for any help.

    Regards
    Jateen.

    I am pretty sure as long as you have the Jet Database Engine installed you do not need office u would probably best check on the microsoft site.

    Yes it will work everywhere. You do not even need Jet installed as the driver is included in MDAC (ADO). However the machine that runs your program must have MDAC installed (which is standard in windows now, however in case not include it in your setup package).
