Unanswered: Remote Backup server for Sybase

    Hello,
I edited the interfaces files at local and remote server. I added with sp_addserver the remote backup server . My settings are as follows:
local: SYB_BACKUP renote SYB_BACKUPLOAN. When I am tring to execute
exec SYB_BACKUPLOAN...sp_who, I am getting an error:
    Msg 7205, Level 17, State 2:
    Server 'HBOC_HNS', Line 1:
Can't open a connection to site 'SYB_BACKUPLOAN'. See the error log file in the
    SQL Server boot directory.
    Msg 7205, Level 18, State 3:
    Server 'HBOC_HNS', Line 1:
Can't open a connection to site 'SYB_BACKUPLOAN'. See the error log file in the
    SQL Server boot directory.

Your test for connection should be
    exec SYB_BACKUP...sp_who

SYB_BACKUP will then be looked up in the server table to translate to physical backup server name which is then mapped to a physical network name via the interfaces file.

How come you have same port number for SYB_BACKUP and HBO_HNS on local?

Your results now indicate that the data server can talk to the backup server and you are now ready to do dumps.

Yes. I made this at both local and remote server. Still I am getting
    the following error:
Backup Server: 5.16.2.2: DB-Library error, error number 20018, severity 5: General SQL Server error: Check messages from the SQL Server
