Question Unanswered: TNS Listener service fails on XP

I have Oracle 9.2 installed on my computer running on XP Professional SP1. The TNS Listener fails often (usually at logon using SQL*Net, but also ODBC. I have set the service to immediately restart which allows SQL*Plus and Enterprise manager connections, but this is not desirable. I get numerous logs in the Listener trace file as follows:

    ntt2err: soc 348 error - operation=5, ntresnt[0]=524, ntresnt[1]=997, ntresnt[2]=0

Does anyone have any idea for a fix?
    Regards,
    Terry

    post the listener.log file (%oracle_home%\network\log\listener.log)

You could try removing and recreating the listener using the net config assistant utility

The failure ocurred between 24-MAY-2004 18:24:36 and 24-MAY-2004 18:25:00. This is just after I attempted to log in using SQL*Plus. The same behavior happens with Enterprise Manager and ODBC.

I posted the listener log file and then tried removing and recreating the listener using net config assistant. It's worse than before.

Does anyone have a clue what's going on here? It looks like there's an error ocurring whenever there is activity initiated with the listener. It seems to fail consistently when starting SQL*Plus, just ater the username is entered.

Is this similar to the behaviour you are getting?

Thumbs up I'm looking into this ...

This seems to be very similar. I don't have an Aventail product loaded, but maybe there is something else causing the problem. I'm off to find SpyGuru to see what it tells me. Thanks for the reference!
    Regards,
    Terry
