    Question Unanswered: adding chunk reg

    Hi..

I want to add a new chunk for my instance.

im using onspace command for that.(informix 9.4x, Windows NT)

    onspaces -s instance name -p c:\ifmxdata\instancename\newfile -o 0 -s 50000.

How to create a file for that with the specified size.

    Hi Maruthi,

First go to command promt, go to the specific directory, type edit newfile, save it and exit. A new file will be created with zero bytes.
Now go to unix prompt and type

    Onspaces a mydbspace -o 0 -p c:\ifmxdata\spaces\newfile s 50000

    Regards,

    Lloyd

go to the directory where you want the dbspace to be and type
    touch "file name"

then change permisions to 660 and owner group to informix:informix

    then do the onspaces command

    cheers
