when I try to install new instance..
    Err msg
"MS Sql server 2000 standard edition server component is not supported on this operating system. only client components will be available for installation"

What this means? In my comp, op is Win 2000 pro running sql server2000.

I installed new instance on my laptop with win2000 pro.

    Is this related licensing issue?

Well, you shouldn't be installing standard edition on your "laptop". That's illegal. Microsoft very kindly gives the developers edition for only $49. Buy it and install that.
