Unanswered: Decrypt cause 100 % CPU usage?

We have to use encryption of data. One by month, there is batch reporting data in non-ecrypted format.
    Our experience:
When we use function DECRYPT_CHAR report is ended in 10 hours. All time,CPU usage is 100 %.

Without decryption, report is ended in one hour, with CPU usage 10 %.
Our environment is Windows 2000,UDB 7.2 with fiks pack 6.

Is it really normal? What can i do to speed it?Im i really need much stronger machine for decryption (report is going only once a month, without batch cpu usage is 1 %)

    TIA,Zvonimir

Decryption is very heavy on CPU, much heavier than normal database operations... I figure this is probably quite normal.

You might want to double check the access plan to make sure db2 is making a good estimates on the column. Functions can throw these things off.
