    Noob question:

How do u go about adding indexes in tables in DB2 and optimizing the database.
I have DB2 installed on Windows as well as an AIX server.

You can use the create index SQL statement or create an index using the Control Center. There is an index advisor that is available for use, but don't expect it to be perfect. A knowledgeable DBA with an understanding of the application and how the data is accessed is the best solution.

Recently, I've found the desing advisor useful, you can launch it from the Control Center. Start with your WHERE and ORDER BYs... run slow queries through Explain...

    We're not that expensive
