Unanswered: use MS Query (Excel) on a secured DB

    Hello,

I have my backend DB secured on a network drive and I want to run MS Query out of excel to retrieve data.
However I keep receiving an error when trying to connect to the db.
Sometimes the error says: "No visible tables in db" and
sometimes the error says: "...no permission to access the db ..." though a login popup shows up.
    Any ideas?

Is it even possible to use MS Query on a secured DB? I have added ReadOnly Users for that purpose. However, even if loggin on as Admin MS Query doesn't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated since I really don't know how to solve that problem.

    Regards Proximus

if I change the workgroup(security.mdb) back to the system.mdb I get the error that I do not have the permission to log on.

However if I create a new database on the system.mdb workgroup MS Query works fine.

it seems that I have solved the problem by just creating a new data source and specifying the correct drive manually. no offense.
    regards proximus
