You'll probably find that the forum software is just a standard piece of software so its probably very difficult to change any of the settings unless there's a option already provided to do this.

Of course it may well be shareware, and the software is available to rewrite as required, but then you'd just have 100's of database people each happy to redesign the database completely but not a sole interested in changing the look and feel of the front end

take a look at the Forum Jump option list at the bottom right.

Select the drop arrow, then select "Forums Home"
