Site Performance Issues

I visit a half-dozen forums on a many-time-a-day daily basis.

For some reason, the dbforums.com address frequently hangs.

Probably once a day, or once every two days, there is a period of time, usually in the morning, where I try to connect and the browser times-out. I'll try multiple times over an hour, or so, and no luck. Then, later in the day, everything works fine.

Sometimes the problem is in connecting to the dbforums home page. Other times I am able to connect to the home page, but when I try and transit to the SQL Server forum, it dies.

I never have this regular a problem with any other site. Yes, occassionally every site has down-time and, occassionally I am not able to connect to just about any site.

But the frequency and regularity of the downtime for dbforums.com is indicative of a problem.

It is possible that my provider, Comcast, has some DNS issue here.

I just wanted to alert you in-case others have seen this problem.

we've seen this problem on a regular basis for several years

the official explanation is that the hamsters running the wheels that provide power to the inet servers are given occasional rest breaks

Yup - 100% agreed.
TPTB are aware. TPTB have opened the issue with the mods. We are just waiting for TPTB to feedback\ do something about it.

I will link to this thread.

I've noticed that when it hangs here it also tends to simultaneously hang on an iNet sister site, XtremeVBTalk.com.

that has nothing to do with it, many extremely large web sites are run on mysql

need we engage in fanboy trolling? (hint: no)

far more germane to the issue of a site going down on a regular basis are the skills of the site's administrators

Are any of you, who have responded to this thread, administrators of this forum site?

I don't see any obvious indication of such and I am suprised that no one from the site itself has responded to this thread.

The site is run by iNET interactive ???

Can someone from iNET interactive respond to this issue?
