ok, while I am at it:

Whenever I have read a posting/thread, and scrolled to the bottom, what I want to do is to go back to the list of postings.

If I am on a second or further page - ie. not at the first page of the forum, I would use the back button.

BUT: often I just want to go back to the main page to see what is new, and to do that I have to scroll to the top to click on the forum link, for example:

dBforums > PC based Database Applications > Microsoft Access

It would be very practical if this "bar" also appeared just below the last posting in all threads.
