DBMS IN9 64-bit is not supported in Pb8

a client has recently upgraded to IN9 64-bit and now a powerbuilder 8 (32-bit) application can't connect to the informix server. an error encountered reads: 'DBMS IN9 is not supported in your current installation' How can i make it work without upgrading PowerBuilder application?
