Yes,

Yes,
FYI....
C:\>isql -Usa -Sgopal_back
Password:
1> sp_who
2> go
No language handler installed.
Language cmd: sp_who
1>

I have replaced the hostname "gopal-pc" to "localhost" in sql.ini for all entries and its working.

But, I am wondering, why it is not working when i am puting real hostname or ip address in isql.ini.

C:\>hostname
gopal-pc

[gopal]
master=NLWNSCK,localhost,5000
query=NLWNSCK,localhost,5000

[gopal_back]
master=NLWNSCK,localhost,5001
query=NLWNSCK,localhost,5001

[gopal_XP]
master=NLWNSCK,localhost,5002
query=NLWNSCK,localhost,5002

were you able to check under Services on control panel windows the backup server service if it is running?
try rechanging the INI file from NLWNSCK to TCP see if that works.

I am sure it must be fine after potting localhost IP 127.0.0.1 ( Please do not put LAN IP address ). Second thing, Its not able to connect using gopal-pc , it means there must be something wrong with your OS settings/ Enviorment variable.

Hope it helps you. Thanks,
