Increasing size of master database in sybase

I would like to know is it possible to increase the space of master after your databases have been setup and populated? In running a job on the test database, the message about the transaction log is full was received.

Comparing the production db setup with the test, we found that test master is 70MB smaller than production. However, the structure and data that is being used on test is the same that is being used on production.

I don't know if master can be increased using the alter database command or does it mean we are out of luck unless we delete and reinstall the database.

Help is appreciated.

Hiya swimbley,

Just adding on what Siva advised, master on be altered only onto a master device.

Even if you run out of space on the master device and cannot alter anymore, all is not lost. Simply bcp out sysdatabases, sysusages, sysdevices, syslogins, sysloginroles, sysconfigures and syscharsets from the existing master.
Build a new master(whatever size) and bcp back in those tables.

Cheers
