Counting all lines

From Root directory , I want to count all the lines of all the files in all directries. I want the final sum of lines.

It will be good if i get all the files + lines in files. but the sum at end is must.

Kindly help

Hi varun,
what do you realy want to do with this counting. What´s about executable files. There is no line to count. I can not see the reason for that. Please give more informations.
