how to reterive paticular string from the script file .. ASAP

Hello Forum members,



Please help for the following issue .
There are strings in shell script which i have to reterive from the script and redirct into the log file.
for example:
script file consists -Uciadev -psybase.some where of the script consist this line and iahve to reterive and redirect into alog.
Now i have to write a script the do the above work.

Please suggest me the awk script for this.I am looking forward from you.

grep piped by cut shld do it

Hi,

grep <ur pattern> <ur filename>|cut -c start_index end_index >logfilename.log
