Encrypt user password in an access DB

I am new in programming in visual basics. I have created an access DB where users need a password to logon. My desire is to encrypt user's password by generating a checksum during logon which will be deleted at logout. A visiual basic code will be of great help. Thanks in advance to he or she who will be permitted by time to assist me.
